Charity

Gender Blender has two components as a charity event. A portion of the proceeds go to charity and we provide food for the Centre Wellington Food Bank.

Teams are asked to bring a box of non-perishable food (suggested CDN$10/person) to the storage tent on Saturday. We are one of the Food Bank’s biggest events of the year, and our efforts are enormously respected within the community. In recent years, a number of teams have taken to buying gift certificates from the local grocery store which the food bank accepts as well.

Our History of Giving

We’d like to share with you some of the charitable work that we do in the name of the tournament.

Gender Blender XII discs in Africa

The profits of Gender Blender have always gone to charity. From 1997 to 2002, all profits went back to the town of Fergus, ensuring goodwill with the community and building a strong relationship with the town and the facility. From 1997-2000, the Community Resource Centre , Fergus’ United Way agency, received the entire sum. In 2001 and 2002, we split our donation between the CRC and a Field Development Fund run by the Community Centre to develop sports facilities. In 2003, the proceeds were donated to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children in memory of Quinn William Evans, who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in December 2002. In 2007, we split the proceeds between only the CRC and the Hospital.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the charity components of GB.
