The bids have started to roll in. Time to get
excited!
March 15th 2008
Happy St. Paddy's Day (yes, the Roman Catholic
church moved it to today instead of the traditional
17th!). The bid forms are now online. Information
about the Saturday night Disco Dance Off
will go up this weekend as well.

Organizational meeting to confirm that the major
items have been looked after. Fields, insurance,
tent... we're well under way.
March 10th 2008
Volunteers are starting to be sorted out, as
is security.

The new website nears completion! While I'm looking
forward to getting all the photos online, the
next step is to get the bid form up before
I leave for a vacation in Russia. I hear rumours
that one of Russia's biggest indoor tourneys
is happening the same weekend I'm there...
it's tempting to stop in and find some recruits
for a new Russia vs. Canada showdown involving
a round flat thing... only this time, in Fergus
Ontario.

Fields are booked. Insurance is in the works.
Scott Belair is amazing behind the scenes at
plowing through the paperwork. Next up for
him, the special events permit.

The transfer of the domain is done. Time to start
building the new updated website. Gender Blender
now lives as a part of The Ultimate Experience
under the same overall domain as our
main site. Of course this is just technobabble... but most of you haven't even started
to think about Gender Blender yet, have you?
Happy Valentine's Day all!

The logo and theme concepts for this year have
been discussed and our top notch design expert
is on the case. Can't wait to unveil the 2008
logo and theme. It's about time we did something
like this!

Busy day today! VC Ultimate has negotiated a
new plan for The Ultimate Experience this year,
and we've talked about what possibilities there
are for merchandise. Looks like we'll be able
to do some really awesome stuff!! (but I have
to keep a lid on it for now!)
Carmen Chan has
agreed to handle the arrangement of medical
again. She coordinated that great last year
for both Gender Blender and Nationals and it's
fantastic to have someone else worry about
this. It's doubly fantastic knowing how much experience
she has and how smoothly everything will go.

Scott and Julie Belair, in spite of just recently
having an addition to the family, have hopped
on board to help out with some of the vast
planning for Gender Blender. Just in time too
as I'm off to Mexico next week! I'm not going
to have time to work on my tan during the tourney,
so I gotta start early.
Jan 17th 2008
Calls made to people to head up the security
team, volunteer team, medical team, administration
team. This is a *big* tournament. It's half
the size of the 2007 Canadian Nationals, and
2/3rds the size of the 2008 Canadian Nationals.
Only this one runs 24 hours a day for the weekend
and involves one of the best nights of partying
anywhere!
Jan 16th 2008
It's the official handoff... the passing of the
torch. Giles, Karen, Dilhan and I meet for
the first planning session of Gender Blender
XII. Good times all around. And now it begins.
