The Saturday Night Showcase at Gender Blender has always been an opportunity for participants to show a little of their off-field skill. Whether it be rapping, acting, singing, dancing, comedy, drinking, or lip synching to their favorite tunes, Gender Belender's Saturday night has seen it all.
So, this year, we're going to honour our heritage and go way back with a tribute to the Dance-off contests from when Gender Blender was still new. Only, we're going to put a twist on it.
We want to see your team get up and take part in our 70's Disco Dance-off!
We'll be awarding prizes for the best all out team effort to look the part. So hit up ValueVillage, thrift stores, your parents closets (grandparents for some of you!), and strut your stuff as we get down and get funky for a little Saturday night of fever!
Hold on! There is more. We are expecting each team to put up an entry in the Dance Off. That's right... you'll have a few seconds of fame... to take the center spotlight, and show us your moves.
And while we really want to see someone channel a little
70's style out there, we're opening it up so
that you can do whatever suits you. So, whether
you have the next Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers,
hot jive routine, want to show off some hot street
moves or just want to shake your thing and giv'er...
we welcome it all. Whether it's a single talented
individual representing, or a group, or the entire
team - when we
call your team number hustle to the centre stage and let's see it. As long
as the crowd keeps cheering, we keep your song
going... when the crowd stops cheering... you're
done. At the end, the top three crowd pleasers
will be brought back for the audience to decide
who wins the Dance-off.
One last tip... if you're a super keen team, and organized well enough ahead
of time to send a video of your dance routine
with your bid... that might impress the bid selection
committee.
